Elena La Cuesta
Honeybee Preschool Lead &
Family-Child Circle

Elena is a caring, passionate, and dedicated educator with roots in the vibrant city of Berkeley, California. Elena's childhood was spent in the scenic hills of San Ramon, where she developed a love for exploring the golden landscapes in her backyard. During her high school years in Berkeley, Elena discovered her deep-seated passion for photography. This newfound love led her to Los Angeles, where she pursued her studies at the renowned Art Center College of Design and earned a Bachelor's degree in photography.

Elena's journey into the world of education was sparked by her own children. Enrolling them in an outdoor Waldorf-inspired preschool ignited her admiration for the beauty and warmth of Waldorf early childhood education. This experience prompted her to become an assistant at the preschool, marking the beginning of her dedicated career in teaching.

Continuing her commitment to Waldorf education, Elena transitioned to Swallowtail. Here, she served as an associate teacher to the Butterfly Kindergarten, contributing to the growth and development of young minds in a nurturing environment. Elena is now at the helm of the Honeybee Preschool class, where she continues to inspire and guide her students. She also welcomes new parents and children to the rhythm of early childhood in a Waldorf classroom as lead of the Family-Child Circle.

Elena has studied with Lifeways North America and Sunbridge Institute. Eager to enhance her expertise in early childhood education, Elena is actively pursuing her Early Childhood certification training through the Great Lakes Waldorf Institute. This ongoing commitment reflects her dedication to providing the highest quality education and fostering a love of learning in her students.

With her diverse background, love for Waldorf education, and ongoing professional development, Elena brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the Swallowtail community. Her warm and nurturing approach creates an environment where young minds can thrive, feel nurtured, and discover the joy of learning.
