Castine Dow is a Waldorf alumna, graduating from the Bay School in Blue Hill, Maine in 2001. She studied Italian and Architecture at Smith College in Northampton, MA and pursued her graduate studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Castine worked in design, where she felt uninspired, until she took a trip to Whidbey Island, WA and felt drawn to the Pacific Northwest. Soon after she moved to Portland with her husband, Ted, and completed her Waldorf Teacher Training at Waldorf Teacher Training Eugene.
