An education for a changing world.

Our Programs

  • Early Childhood

Our play-based preschool and kindergarten programs provide a nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore the world around them.

  • Lower Grades

In the lower grades (1-5), our curriculum slowly builds to include more academic lesson work, while keeping the focus on experiential learning and movement.

Our Farm

Our farm property includes sustainable agriculture plots as well as native forest, meadow, and variable wetland areas within the McKay Creek basin of Hillsboro, Oregon. The majority of the acreage is committed to a 20-year grant project dedicated to the restoration of native habitat in the riparian and wetland zones. Our students visit the farm once a week to engage with the land and learn about sustainable food production and how we can care for and restore natural areas.

Connected Community

Swallowtail School is a thriving community of families who come together to make our school strong. Forged through a shared dedication to providing their children with a magical and meaningful educational experience, these friendships last a lifetime.

Why Waldorf?

Waldorf Education nurtures the whole child, which means their hands, heads, and hearts are engaged. A deeper purpose underlies every aspect of the school environment, with thoughtfully curated classrooms and curriculum designed to meet the needs of the particular students in each class.
